A Visit to Louisbourg
(Part 1)

Hello. My name is Jean. I am an eight year old Acadian boy.
In June of 1743, my father took me to visit my cousins in Louisbourg for the first time.
This is the story of my visit.

Photo of Louisburg from the bay.

Louisbourg was the biggest fort I had ever seen.
We could see it from miles away.

Photo of people on the street.

There were more people than I had ever seen at one time.
There were people talking in the streets.

There were people working in the gardens.

Some of them stopped to talk to me.

While I was there, a man stold a bottle of wine. So the magistrate ordered him to be chained to a post.
All the children gathered around to watch the soldiers put the chains on the "voleur".

Since June 1, 2001, visitors have stopped by to enjoy Louisbourg.
